Operation Christmas Child will begin in mid-October. Consider filling a shoe box with necessities and presents for a child. Pick up a brochure in the lobby with a list of suggestions. You may use a Christmas decorated shoe box provided in the lobby or a standard size plastic shoe box. The plastic boxes are also useful for storing things or even carrying water.
The Samaritan's Purse ministry requests that a $7.00 mailing fee be included with your box. You can select gifts for a boy or girl, choosing the age range as well. Online, a special label can be printed so you can see where in the world your box is received. Undecorated boxes can be wrapped, but the lid should be wrapped separately. We will be putting rubber bands around the boxes before they are sent to hold the lids on.
These gifts should be brought to the church Nov. 8th and 15th. They will be prayed over in a morning service and taken to a collection center to be sent all over the world. Although new to our church, this amazing ministry is well established and has distributed 124 million shoe boxes to needy children since 1993. In 2015, they hope to distribute 11 million more boxes to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to children around the world in over 150 countries and territories.
